Seeds of Wisdom

A valuable seed of wisdom is that I am realizing more quickly that when I become frightened with what is or with what may or may not be happening in my life and feeling unsure about how to deal with it, that I can simply choose to trust the process of my life unfolding within a much grander picture than I can see.  Even though I may not understand what is happening or be able to see my way through, I am remembering to trust that there is a deeper part of myself that does know the way.  When I listen to this inner wisdom, all the parts of me that seem to get lost from time to time can find their way Home.

I would imagine that many of you can identify with what I am saying because I believe it is part of the human experience of learning deeper wisdom.  It is essential that we accept ALL parts of ourselves.  On this note, I’d like to share a favourite poem of mine called  “The Guest House” written by the 13th century poet,  Rumi.

The Guest House

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
As an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.
